This is an exceptional Albariño from the DO Ribeira Sacra in Galicia, northwestern Spain. This wine comes from Adega Ponte da Boga, one of the oldest and most respected wineries in this region of "heroic viticulture" on extremely steep terraces along the Sil River.
The Taste & Aromas
Colour: Light green-yellow.
Nose (Aroma): Intense, complex and layered. The wine opens with clear notes ofripeStone fruits such as nectarine and apricot marmalade, complemented by bright citrus fruit (lemon and grapefruit) and a surprising floral note of rose and lavender, with subtle smoky hints.
Palate: This Albariño is juicy and full-bodied, yet very fresh and lively. The dominant fruit notes return, perfectly balanced by a pronounced mineral undertone typical of the Ribeira Sacra's slate soils. The finish is long and refined.
Structure: The wine has the characteristic freshness and acidity of Albariño, with added depth from aging on the lees ( sur lie ) in stainless steel tanks, and a small amount in French oak. This gives the wine extra character and a subtle creaminess.
