A gastronomic Albillo Real from the Sierra de Gredos.
The 2022 Picarana is a tribute to the unique terroir of San Martín de Valdeiglesias. Made from 100% Albillo Real grapes, sourced from organically managed vineyards at high altitudes (up to 850 meters). The weathered granite soils and the extreme mountain climate give this wine unprecedented depth and an almost "Burgundian" elegance.
Character and Vinification
The grapes grow on old vines in small plots surrounded by almond trees and wild herbs. After a gentle pressing, the wine ferments with natural yeasts in used French oak barrels of 500 to 700 liters. This gives the wine its rich texture, without any pronounced woodiness. The 10-month maturation on the fine lees creates a silky smooth mouthfeel and impressive aging potential.
Tasting note
Colour: Straw yellow with a golden shimmer.
Nose: Refined and complex. Aromas of ripe pear and quince, interwoven with white flowers, chamomile, and a characteristic mineral note (flint).
Palate: Full and structured, yet with a remarkable freshness. You'll taste honeyed nuances, a light oiliness, and a subtle bitterness in the finish, typical of the Albillo grape. The finish is long, salty, and refreshing.
