This is the pure essence of the Marañones estate , a privileged location on the granite slopes of the Sierra de Gredos (DO Vinos de Madrid). This wine demonstrates how elegant and refined the Garnacha grape can be when grown at high altitude on sandy, granite soils.
Origin & Terroir: From 50- to 70-year-old vines, grown at an altitude of 750 to 850 meters. The unique granite soil and northerly orientation ensure slow, balanced ripening, resulting in a striking minerality and freshness.
Aroma & Palate: The nose is complex and inviting, with notes of bright red fruit (cherry, raspberry), complemented by balsamic and aromatic herbs (think mountain herbs and thyme) and a distinctive aroma of dry stone (granite). On the palate, it is slender yet flavorful, with silky, ripe tannins and lively acidity.
Character: An elegant and refined red wine, often compared to the finesse of a Burgundian Pinot Noir, but with the sun-drenched character of Garnacha. It is aged for 15 months in used oak barrels and concrete tanks, preserving the pure expression of the fruit.
Tasting notes:Granite, finesse, and red fruit. A lively, complex Garnacha that reflects the soul of the Sierra de Gredos.
